  November 2005

5th  Nov -

I went back to look for the Wattled Plovers nest, and found instead, three exquisite little baby 'wattlies'...marching in good order behind the one parent, whilst the other parent made such a distracting noise that it was an effort not to keep watching him/her!!!...they are tiny replicas of the parents, minus the wattles of course, fragile little creatures, almost like spun glass ornaments....I do wish you had been here to see them, and then...on the way to collect the poles, I saw three Ground Hornbills, they took to the air, and they really are very big birds, with white tips on their black wings, and quite noticeable red bills.
